I never in a million years thought I’d look good in flared jeans. Never. I remember wearing them when I was younger (middle school days~) but those were really the only option for jeans when I was that age. But the thought of getting a pair now? Definitely not. But I found these Madewell jeans at one of my favorite thrift stores last month NEW WITH TAGS and I had to try them on.
I was skeptical of these jeans for many reasons. 1) they are flared. 2) They are a size 24, which I am no where near. But I decided to give them a chance because I knew flares were coming back and I wanted to see if I could rock them. I’d also heard great things about Madewell. And to my surprise (and joy) they fit perfectly! I did have to get them hemmed (a-hem 4’9″ over here) but I almost always have to get pants hemmed anyways. But now I love them. I actually find them to be really flattering for me despite my petite frame! Who knew?
I’m not going to lie – I got a lot of the inspiration for this look from Anne Hathaway in The Intern. (If you haven’t seen it – you should. I loved everything but the ending!) You can see her look here and obviously she looks milllliooonnnssss of times cooler than me but that is besides the point. I loved her striped shirt and gold belt combo so I decided to try my own spin on the look. I also decided to add my favorite accessory – a vest! I picked up this vest last week from Charlotte Russe – a store I never shop in but decided to have a look. I was pleasantly surprised by how chic this vest looks for only 15$!
As no surprise – I added my black ankle boots to give me a little height and they look damn good with these jeans!
As always – I’d love to hear what you think in the comments! Also I’d love to hear what you think of my new layout and banner!
Thanks for reading,
In case you didn’t know – I’m from the East Coast in the United States. And because of some very serious hurricanes coming through It’s been raining here every single day for the past week! Today was the first time I’ve been able to take outfit posts for this week! And the weather hasn’t even been that great for taking photos – overcast. A photographers worst nightmare. Ahh so behind! But anyways – the outfit.
Floral isn’t really a print people associate with Autumn/Winter. But I love wearing florals all year round. Some of my favorite prints are ones with black undertones, which I think go perfectly for fall. They aren’t too bright but they still appeal to my floral needs in my wardrobe.
I picked up this dress this summer from Value Village without trying it on. (Value village doesn’t have dressing rooms?? I don’t know why not.) Thankfully, it fits me perfectly! It’s originally from Urban Outfitters so I was pretty happy to find it. I didn’t really wear it this summer but now that the weather is cooling down I feel like it’s a bit more seasonally appropriate. One of my favorite details in the back because it’s got this cute criss-crossing detail, which is nice if it’s still not too chilly!
I’ve never owned a leather jacket but I love the tough look of them. I found this black jacket last summer at Nordstrom and knew it had to be mine. It reminds of the look of a leather jacket but thinner aka perfect for layering! My necklace was a gift and it features my birthstone – Peridot. I love how the green goes with the hint of green in the dress.
I apologize for the dirtiness of my flats – they have gone everywhere with me! They are just a faux suede flat from Payless. I just love the bow detailing of them! So cute.
I hope you liked this post and as always – let me know what you think in the comments!
I’ve been wanting to write some more product reviews on my blog so I decided to write about my all-time favorite moisturizer because I recently picked it up again.
To preface – I have pretty sensitive skin and very dry skin. I’ve tried a few different moisturizers including the Simple moisturizer but that really didn’t work for my face at all.
So – the best moisturizer I’ve tried? Palmer’s Daily Calming Facial Lotion! This moisturizer comes in very simple packaging – nothing fancy. It’s also pretty inexpensive – only 8 dollars for a pretty good amount of products. It can be a little hard to find but I normally find it at Target or CVS. But it is available online.
The formula of the moisturizer feels thick when you first put it on your skin but it absorbs really, really nicely into the skin. Not too thick or cakey – just moisturized and smooth. But because it is a thicker formula you really need the smallest amount, which is why it lasts for so long! I tend to use it morning and night as my moisturizer and I just find it helps my dry skin and redness so much!
Even though it is a thicker consistency, I haven’t found it to break me out or cause redness. In fact – I think it reduces my redness (which is one of its claims). It’s definitely a very calming product like it claims to be. It’s also odorless, which helps not cause any breakouts or anything.
The only downside? It doesn’t have SPF. But! Palmers does have a moisturizer with SPF – I just haven’t been able to find it in stores. I might purchase it online to see how it compares because I do love having SPF built into my moisturizer so I don’t have to add the extra step.
Anyways – I hope this review helped if you’re looking for a new moisturizer!

Since it is finally officially fall I decided to show you how I’d wear my favorite denim vest for the changing seasons. I showed you how I wore it with my favorite boyfriend jeans here but I wanted to incorporate it into a fall outfit today.
The vest a gift from my grandmother probably eight years ago! I got my shirt a few years ago from American Eagle in the sale section. It’s 3-quarter length, which I think is perfect for the changing seasons. It’s also a really nice color for fall.
My black jeans are BDG from Urban Outfitters but I got them on sale! I also think a cropped pair of black jeans is perfect for this weather. I can still wear them with boots but it’s too hot still to wear full-fledged jeans. My boots are obviously my black pair from Nordstrom I picked up last fall. I think I’m going to wear these bad boys until they fall apart!
It’s a pretty simple outfit for today but this is my go-to for the fall/winter.
As always – let me know what you think in the comments below!
What is your go-to outfit for fall?
While you are reading this – I am coming home from a trip to Arkansas! I know, Arkansas doesn’t sound too exciting but I went to college there it will always hold my heart~~ but anyways.
I’ve been looking for a grid print dress for a really long time. I am so on board with the grid print trend and I think I’ll definitely be wearing it when it’s not “trendy” anymore. (But I do that all the time let’s be honest) So, I found the perfect one at TJ Maxx a few weeks ago!
This dress is a little different because it’s got smaller stitching all over it with the larger grid print as the focus. It’s also a really nice thick material so it will be perfect for A/W! It’s a shift dress print but I decided to belt it.
It was a bit cooler out so I threw on this army green jacket I thrifted when I lived Dublin. It reminds me of a marching band jacket but I love it! I also paired the dress with my faux leather belt I thrifted recently. I also wore my all-time favorite statement necklace because I thought it went nicely with the higher neckline and the gold details on the jacket and belt! I also just wore my plain black flats. No surprise there!
Thanks so much for reading and I’d love to hear what you think in the comments down below! Do you like the grid print trend?
