How to ace Transitional Dressing when it is still hot

How to Ace Transitional Dressing

I feel like everyone on the internet (at least, the fashion bloggers side) are talking about transitional dressing. It’s still 90 degrees here (UGH) so I can’t say that transitional dressing will be happening here for a while but I wanted to bring you an outfit that would work when the temperatures drop a little bit but you’re not quite ready to give up your summer pieces! This outfit can also be nice if you work somewhere with A/C that is on full blast!!

While I would love to be all cozied up in a giant sweater and drinking hot chocolate, I think we’ve got a few more months of warm weather in the south. So why pack away all of my summer items yet? I just needed to figure out a way to make them more appropriate for the slightly cooler temperatures.

All of these pieces are items I wear pretty habitually. A good striped shirt is always a must in any season. I’ve had this one for probably five years and I still put it out every summer! It is, of course, a thrifted item but it was originally from GAP. It’s held up really well considering I’ve worn it so much over the years. I actually have had an insane amount of striped shirts over the years but this one has always stayed in my collection even with every move the past couple of years.

I also feel like a good denim jacket is perfect for almost any season as well. When it gets cooler I’ll probably opt for a darker wash version but this light wash one is perfect for right now.

I mentioned it on my Instagram last week that this skirt was another thrifted impulse purchase. I picked it up thinking it would be a comfy piece for when I’m working from home and it turns out I cannot stop wearing it! I’ve linked a few similar options below because I think a piece like this can be pretty timeless for summer, spring, and into early fall.
