I’ve always had a penchant for menswear and recently I’ve been finding myself reaching for my more masculine pieces in my wardrobe more and more. I try and keep my outfits having some kind of masculine piece to them but it doesn’t always work that way.
I’d like to think of this outfit as my ‘professor chic’ look though. Haha! I love this vest so much but sometimes I have a really hard time figuring out how to style it. I never realized but I really don’t wear brown that often and if I do, it’s normally just my shoes. I’m also only showing you my top half and my shoes because these pants are a little big for me so it wasn’t the most flattering! I love how everything else turned out though so I thought I’d show you guys.
The thing I love about this outfit are the little details. The brown collar on my vest is suede (!) as are the white part of my shoes. That little touch of somethin’, somethin’ really adds a nice element of sophistication, I think. When I wore this my friend said I looked dapper in it, which was the best compliment! I’m obviously not the most masculine or dapper dresser out there but sometimes it’s just fun to try out a new look, especially when it is one I feel really confident in!
Another thing about dressing more ‘dapper’ is I don’t feel the need to wear any makeup. I don’t normally wear makeup to work (because I wake up too late…) but I especially don’t feel the need when I wear an outfit like this.
Another exciting thing about this outfit? Everything is thrifted!! I really do love when that happens. My wardrobe is 90% thrifted but a lot of times it’s tricky to have a totally thrifted outfit because of the shoes. But these shoes (which are cole haan x nike!!) were thrifted a few months ago. I love that they have suede on them. They are a little tricky to wear because they have some mesh detailing so you can always see the socks I’m wearing. But I think they work well with the blue.
