The Neckerchief Trend

I tried the whole ‘neckerchief’ trend this past weekend and I don’t hate it! Since I started this fashion blog, I think I’ve become more daring in the trends that I try. I’ve become more daring in the things I wear in general but before I never used to try trends at all. Sometimes though, it can be really fun to put your own spin on a trend.

I think my problem with trying trends is I normally wait to find them at the thrift store rather than just popping into a fast-fashion store and buying one right there. I normally buy what I like and leave it at that but sometimes I like to play into trends and try them out for myself. I added my own spin to the neckerchief trend so it’s all about finding a trend that suites your personal style – not sacrificing your style for a trend.

To be honest, I used to tie bandanas around my neck everyday when I worked for a conservation corps in Vermont. They were functional and I also really liked doing it. So, I’m glad this is becoming a ‘trend.’ I decided to try something a little different  than pairing it with an off the shoulder top and tie a vintage scarf around my collared shirt. I felt a bit like a flight attendant but I didn’t hate it, shockingly! I really want to try it with some of my other scarves.

I paired my scarf with a sheer white button up that I thrifted a few years ago. I was a bit skeptical with it being so sheer but I’ve gotten so much use out of it over the years! It’s perfect for paring under dresses like this and it’s super lightweight so its great for summer. I then went for my sleeveless denim dress that I’ve been wearing all spring but I don’t think I’ve actually shown it on the blog yet. I picked it up at goodwill and was planning on selling it but I just love it too much! And to add a little bit of interest – I went for my leopard print sneakers!
