Recent thrift finds I can’t stop wearing

I thought today it would fun to share a few of my favorite thrift finds I’ve found for myself recently. I’ll be honest… I haven’t felt like posting much here these days. I hardly put on *real* clothes because I’m not going anywhere (who is??).ut these are just a few of my favorites finds over the past few months. I actually took these photos a long time ago but never got around to posting them (oops).

The great thing about thrifting is that you can do it in person or online! I don’t *love* online thrifting but it can be nice if you’re looking for something specific. I was browsing Thredup and found this perfect Madewell sweatshirt! It was a little bit more worn than I thought but I still really like it. It’s very comfy and perfectly cropped.

My jeans are also a recent thrift find! I found these at a local thrift store and they were new with tags J.Crew!! I wasn’t sure how the “demi-boot” style would look on me but they are perfect. I love the raw hem and they are super comfortable.

Also, does anyone else desperately need a haircut?? My hair is getting so long that I mostly leave it up in a bun because I’ve definitely got some split ends. But I liked it down in these pictures, for once!

I hope everyone has a great week!

The Perfect Work From Home Outfit

The Perfect Work From Home Outfit

I’ve shared quite a few of the perfect Work from home outfits over the years (here and here) But this one might take the cake! It can be really hard for me to motivate myself these days to get dressed, especially since I’m not going anywhere. But I am trying to get better about it because I really miss my clothes! I miss taking pictures and sharing my latest thrift finds. So in an attempt to get dressed more this year, I bring you the comfiest work from home outfit that is also still cute!

The perfect work from home outfit has to be comfortable but I also like to wear a somewhat nice looking top in case I have to hop on a Zoom call. You know the feeling, ugh. In the winter it can be tricky because all I want to do is bundle up in a sweatshirt and sweatpants but I know that’s not the chicest look!

    The Outfit Formula

The formula for this kind of work from home outfit is simple: an oversized flannel and leggings! If I’m not wearing this formula of an outfit, it’s only because I’m wearing sweatpants! I like wearing this kind of outfit though because the top is nice enough to wear on zoom calls, haha. If I leave my house, I throw on my trusty slip-on sneakers!

Another staple in my work from home uniform is wearing my hair in a messy bun! Before the pandemic, I didn’t really know how to do put my hair in a messy bun, haha. I think I kind of skipped the girl genes of knowing how to do your hair. But my hair has gotten uncomfortably long these days so I have been loving throwing it up in a scrunchie!

    Back to blogging?

Every time I say I am going to come back to blogging this year, something has come up. I’ll be honest, the last thing I wanted to do this year was sit down and write more. But let me explain.

My day job is in communications and grant writing. So I spend a lot of my days writing whether it is website copy, press releases, and grant applications. And on top of that, I’m in school! So that has been even more writing on the weekends (or every day the past few weeks…). But I have still been taking photos of my outfits on the *rare* occasion I feel like getting dresses these days…. blah, 2020! So these photos were taken back in early fall and I’m just now getting around to sharing them! I have a lot of these that I want to share over the next few weeks!

So, this post isn’t to say anything all that important but that I’m going to try and blog more with my free time during the break! I have a lot of ideas I want to do and share some of my recent thrift finds.

Like this dress! I bought this way back in the beginning of the year, maybe the last time I went thrifting before COVID! I thought, oh it’ll be the perfect spring and fall dress… lol! Boy, was I wrong! But it did feel good to wear it a few weeks ago. It’s definitely a rarity for me to wear real clothes these days but I always feel a little better when I do!

Also, I have to mention scrunchies!! I never thought I’d be a big scrunchie wearer but they are so comfortable! I got a giant pack of them for like $10 on Amazon so I would definitely check there (or check out my good friend Lauren’s shop – Bouquet clothing! She has the cutest!)

How to Wear Statement Sleeves When You’re Petite

How to wear statement sleeves when you’re petite

Wearing statement sleeves when you’re petite can be pretty tough. But I don’t think statement sleeves are going anywhere anytime soon. Normally on my petite frame, I find them to be way. too. much. But when I found this top at the thrift store for $1, I knew I had to try it out! I love the statement sleeves on this top because they aren’t overexaggerated shoulders or anything too crazy. Just some puffed sleeves at the cuffs!

    Find what works for you

Like I mentioned above, I am not crazy about the over the top puffed shoulder trend. I find it really doesn’t work for my petite frame. But a little bit of exaggeration at the cuffs? Perfect for me!

    Find the perfect fit

I lucked out on this top. I thrifted it for $1. It’s originally Forever 21 so not something I would ever pick up at the thrift store! But it was cute and, I think, probably supposed to be cropped but fits me perfectly. When it comes to statement sleeves, it definitely comes down to fit. You don’t want to wear something that just looks baggy and like it doesn’t fit you.

    Keep it Simple

I kept this look simple with some yellow trousers and simple nude flats. I think when you’ve got such a busy top, it’s important to keep everything else simple. I did throw on a red lip but I thought that would be fun for pictures! Let’s be real, is anyone wearing lipstick these days with masks and everything?? Definitely not me.

What do you think of the oversized sleeve trend? let me know in the comments!

    The Perfect Pumpkin Spice Outfit

    Happy October, friends!

It’s finally my favorite time of the year – Fall! I am definitely into all things cozy, pumpkin, and warm this year. Does that make me basic? Probably. Do I care? not a bit! (Especially this year… I’m clinging onto anything that could resemble happiness at this point!). And this outfit reminded me of a Pumpkin Spice latte hahaha! And I touch on this later, but I decided recently I really love pumpkin spice! I had never really given into the hype before.

This dress has become a favorite work from home staple. I just love midi dresses for working from home! They look great and are so comfortable! I actually bought this right before quarantine thinking I would have a bunch of places to wear it… oh, well! It was a little chilly out so I decided to take the belt and belt a sweater on it, which I think adds a little something to the outfit!

This is actually a pretty heavy Target look but I couldn’t wear any other shoes besides my super comfy slide ons!

I will also be the first to admit that I was against pumpkin spice…. until recently. I hit up Trader Joes and picked up a lot of pumpkin foods (pumpkin pancakes, yum!!) and let me just say, I am hooked. I also made some pumpkin bread a few weekends ago and it was amazing! So while I haven’t tried a pumpkin spice latte in years, I might have to with my love of pumpkin now.

Do you like pumpkin spice? Let me know in the comments!
